Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) has released body camera footage showing a deputy-involved shooting that left a knife-wielding woman dead. The incident occurred on Feb. 7 after deputies responded to a distress call from the woman's daughter, who was concerned about her mother's actions. Deputies entered the home and directed them to a bathroom where the woman was hiding. Body camera footage shows the confrontation between the two officers before deputies broke down the door. The woman, identified as 52-year-old Karen Ivette Gomez, was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. No deputies were injured in the incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
