Hit-and-run driver accused of striking ‘bike bus’ leader arrested on DWI charge, N.J. police say

A driver accused of hitting the leader of a Maplewood, New Jersey, bike safety group with her car and leaving the scene of the incident has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated assault and reckless driving. The victim, identified as John Speck, was hit around 7 p.m. on February 25 by a BMW-style SUV that was seen dragging the bike. The driver was also issued multiple summons for multiple crimes including DWI.
