United Airlines slashes 2026 forecast as fuel costs surge

United Airlines has reduced its 2026 earnings outlook due to a surge in jet fuel prices. The airline expects to earn between $7 and $11 per year, down from its previous forecast of $12 and $14. The company is reducing some of its planned flights to reduce costs. It expects its revenue to cover between 40% and 50% of the fuel price increase in the second quarter and between 85% and 100% by the end of the year.
