General Motors (GM) is increasing its heavy-duty truck output to meet demand following a surge in sales in 2025, despite challenges including tariffs, supply chain issues, and fires at an aluminum supplier plant. GM, America’s most popular brand, reported transmission issues, V8 recalls, and diesel concerns. Despite these challenges, full-sized trucks remained some of their best sellers. Ford reported sales of over 828,000 across its F-Series lineup, an 8% year-over-year increase in sales despite supply challenges. Ford expects up to $2 billion in temporary costs due to aluminum tariffs and premium freight expenses this year as it scrambles to keep inventory for the popular vehicle high. GM is also planning to run its Flint Assembly plant six days a week starting in June to meet customer demand.
