A jury convicted Caleb Elledge, who shot a NMSP officer in the neck in 2022, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm and will be sentenced to nine years in federal prison in 2024. City leaders in Albuquerque are considering renaming places with Cesar Chavez's name amid new sexual abuse allegations. Despite months of gathering data to crack down on loud cars, City Councilor Joaquin Baca believes noise cameras could make a difference, potentially citing drivers with loud cars like speed cameras. The state has enlisted the nonprofit Rio Grande Return to restore the Rio Puerco watershed, which currently has sporadic water flow.
