Petrobras to purchase Petronas' stakes in two offshore fields for $450 million

Brazilian state-run company Petrobras has decided to purchase the 50% stake of Malaysian company Petronas in two offshore fields for $450 million. The deal will allow PetroBRAS to hold 100% of the areas where the oil company operates. The transaction is set to take place in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
