Court documents have revealed new details about the attack on the White House Correspondents' Dinner and attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. The documents were filed ahead of Cole Tomas Allen's pretrial detention hearing, laying out the case for keeping him in jail as he awaits trial. They detail Allen's activities leading up to the attack, including researching the event on April 6 and purchasing a one-way Amtrak ticket from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. and keeping notes about his journey. Prosecutors said Allen used his phone to monitor Trump's schedule and when he would be arriving at the event. He was carrying multiple weapons including a Mossberg 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, a Rock Island Armory 1911.38 caliber pistol, knives, multiple sheaths, multiple holsters, needle-nose pliers, and a Samsung cellphone. Allen was not hit by the gunfire but fell and was subdued by multiple agents.
