A significant weather threat is expected for late Sunday into Monday afternoon across the Carolinas, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible. The main severe weather threat begins in early morning hours on Monday, with the threat highest from early through mid-afternoon. A strong cold front is expected to approach from the west from the east and move into the area Monday, when the severe weatherthreat increases significantly. Most activity will remain scattered and isolated, though some storms could become strong. The cold front will push in behind, with much colder air moving in, leading to a brief period of northwest flow snow in the North Carolina mountains. Temperatures will remain below normal throughout mid-week, with temperatures expected to remain below freezing low.
