About 500 drones and missiles were launched during a recent Russian strike, which caused casualties and damage across the country. The attacks were not the largest Russian bombardment Ukraine has seen, but were among the more sizeable ones in recent months. Putin's comments reflect the increasing use of air-defence systems in the Middle East by US-aligned Gulf states to counter Iranian missile and drone attacks.
