Nebraskan working for NASA feels ‘fulfilled’ with efforts on Artemis II mission

After the historic launch of NASA's Artemis II mission, Allison Porter Carpenter, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln grad who worked on the Orion spacecraft, expressed her satisfaction with her efforts on the Artemis missions. Her role involves verifying that systems on Orion spacecraft meet human-system requirements to ensure that astronauts live and work well on these lunar missions. While her role isn't as operational now, she will continue working on future missions like Artemis III. Clayton Anderson, Nebraska's only astronaut, said seeing people like Carpenter as an astronaut is an inspiration to future Nebraskans. Despite being underrepresented in STEM fields, Carpenter hopes to represent those who haven't had a chance on the global stage before.
