The uncertainty over the legality of the sale of smokeable hemp products in Texas is negatively affecting local businesses. The Texas Hemp Business Council, the Hemp Industry and Farmers of America, along with eight other Texas hemp businesses, filed a lawsuit against the state within days of the ban. A temporary restraining order was put in place to prevent the ban, but the uncertainty surrounding the situation has grown. The owner of Hemp Gaia, who shut down just 17 days into the ban has vowed not to give up the fight for hemp, but aims to educate and organize the Texas hemp industry.
