“Heated Rivalry’ showrunner Jacob Tierney has revealed that Season 2 of the series will be more serious and more complex than the first season. The storyline involves Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who are now living in "much more series territory" than they were in the first episode. Tierney discussed these challenges during a panel at BookCon. Michael Goldbach has been brought on as co-writer for Season 2. The production team hopes to release new episodes sooner rather than later due to the popularity of the show's first season on Crave/HBO Max. The show is based on Rachel Reid's book "The Long Game," which follows the relationship of Troy Barrett and Harris Drover.
