Archaeologists from the University of Barcelona have discovered a papyrus fragment written in Greek from "The Iliad" hidden inside a 1,600-year-old Egyptian mummy's abdomen. The discovery was discovered during an excavation of a Roman Empire-era Egyptian tomb. This is the first time in recorded history that a Greek literary text has been found incorporated into a mummification ritual. The University of Baranese's Oxyrhynchus Archaeological Mission had previously found similar instances of Greek papyri hidden inside mummies. The same dig also uncovered three gold tongues and one copper tongue.
