The BLOCK Jax, a new outdoor food hall and entertainment venue on Jacksonville's Southside, has opened with an unexpected surge in crowds, leading to significant parking issues and towed vehicles. The venue, which has been in the works for over two years, features eight local restaurants, a craft brewery, a dog park, and a kids' play area. The grand opening weekend saw an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 visitors, causing significant parking problems. Daniel Moffatt, owner of The BLOCK, and his wife, Megan, paid some patrons' towing fees and drove some who had young children to collect their vehicles and paid the towing charge. Despite these issues, no parking issues were reported.
