Deadline Passes For NYC Hospital To Resume Transgender Youth Care

NYU Langone Health has been ordered to resume its Transgender Youth Health Program after it announced it would close due to a challenging regulatory environment and the departure of the program's medical director. The hospital also cited federal threats to withdraw funding from medical centers that provide gender-affirming care to minors. New York Attorney General Letitia James ordered the hospital to resume the program, arguing that ending the treatments could violate the state’s anti-discrimination law. The deadline for the restarting the program has now passed. This comes as national debate over transgender health care continues to intensify.
