Kirtland boys basketball team advanced to the district final with a 59-51 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. The Hornets, who are currently 21-3 for the season, had a 9-13 record and were a significant underdog to Aquinas, despite their size and athleticism. Despite Aquinas' efforts, Kirtland's execution in the game's final minutes was enough to secure a win. All 14 players on the floor scored at least one point for the Hornets, including senior Ben DiFranco and senior Ryan Caimi. Kirtlands will next face Oberlin in a district final on March 7.
