Daisy Appeal to trial 'gold-standard' prostate cancer scan

The £9m molecular imaging research centre at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham, has enabled the creation of a "gold-standard" prostate cancer scan. The scans will be offered to a select group of patients on a clinical trial later this year. The facility is one of only a few few hospitals in the UK to contain a cyclotron that produces radioactive drugs or tracers. The trial is expected to lead to the scans being offered more routinely to local patients once approved by the NHS.
