The City and Borough of Juneau's Visitor Industry Task Force has been meeting since mid-December to review the city's current approach to managing tourism and recommend big-picture changes to the Juneau Assembly. The task force's vice chair, Kirby Day, is the Government and Community Relations Liaison for Carnival Corporation in Juneau. Day highlighted the importance of the task force for managing tourism, which has seen a significant increase in departures from 80,000 cruise passengers to 1.6 million. The next meeting will take place on April 16. Public feedback is possible, but there are no public comment at these meetings.
