Energy company Jupiter Power has received state approval to build the largest battery energy storage system in Massachusetts. The proposed facility will be built on the site of the former ExxonMobil tank farm and will cover approximately 16.5 of the available 20.75 acres. The project will include two substations and two underground transmission lines. The City of Everett Zoning Ordinance granted the Texas-based energy company zoning exemptions. The storage system will ensure excess energy from the electric grid is available for later use when needed. The facility will also be a key connector for wind-generated power and other renewable energy sources.
