The Nevada State Democratic Party is leading an effort to increase the state's electoral prominence and position it in a competitive intraparty White House run in 2028. The party argues that Nevada is primed to vote first in the nation in their party primaries due to its diverse electorate, its workforce, and its status as a battleground state. The state party plans to present its pitch to the Democratic National Committee later this spring. The committee will decide on the party's election calendar at a later date. U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto is also advocating for Nevada to be the first-in-the-nation vote for the eventual White House nominee.
