Father charged with homicide after 6-year-old son dies from gunshot wound in Nashville

A father, 56-year-old Steven Lamont Phillips, has been charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of his 6-year old son in Nashville. The boy was found shot in the head on Saturday and was expected to die due to the severity of his injuries. The charges were originally filed against him for aggravated child neglect and unlawful gun possession. After the boy's death, Phillips told police he fell asleep with a gun in his pocket and awoke to hear a gunshot.
