Montana Sen. Steve Daines becomes 6th Republican senator to drop re-election bid

The sixth Republican senator to announce that they will not run for re-election in the mid-2000s, Sen. Steve Daines, has announced his retirement and has endorsed Kurt Alme, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. This announcement comes as part of a larger effort to combat terrorism.
