PA Breweries, Farmers Both Could Benefit Under Proposed Law

Rep. Ryan Bizzaro, an Erie Democrat, has proposed a tax credit for breweries that provide farmers with their spent grain, which is often used as animal feed or compost. The proposed law aims to reduce waste and support small businesses and farmers by connecting them with local farms. The bill could help Pennsylvania breweries and farmers during a difficult economic time, as over 65 breweries have closed in the past two years. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture estimates that Pennsylvania agriculture is a $132.5 billion industry that provides over 593,000 jobs.
