2 charged in fatal shooting of beloved contractor on Near West Side

Two men are facing first-degree murder charges in the killing of 67-year-old contractor, Jerry Lewis, outside his Near West Side office. Lewis was shot and killed by two armed men who approached him and were quickly arrested. The victim was a fixture in the area and had been involved in the 1901 Project, a $7 billion development plan to revitalize the Near-West Side neighborhood near the United Center. Nassie Mason and Erving Harris, both of whom are facing charges of first-handedly murder and being a felon in possession of a weapon, are also facing charges related to the shooting.
