Iranian President Donald Trump has called for total surrender in the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, but Iran is insisting on prolonging the conflict in an effort to reshape the region in its favor. Despite significant losses to the regime, including the loss of entire leadership and military command structures, the Iranian population, already burdened by years of economic hardship and sanctions. Despite this, Iran's surviving leaders have continued projecting escalatory rhetoric, promising to continue fighting until the enemy truly regrets its aggression. They have also demanded a new regional "status quo," war reparations, and a shift in alliances between Gulf Arab states and the US. The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi suggested that after the war there must be a "new protocol" for the Strait of Hormuz with consideration to "Iran's interest" and that safe passage for ships should take place under specific conditions.
