Flight chaos returned to California as the 40-day Homeland Security shutdown caused major disruption at airports across the country, with passengers enduring two-hour waits at San Diego International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. This comes amid concerns over President Trump's plans to deploy ICE agents to major terminals to fill gaps left by TSA agents. California Governor Gavin Newsom has called for the immigration unit to be "reined in" and has not commented on whether this will happen. Meanwhile, TSA agents were furious over the plans, branding them "the most ridiculous thing I've heard yet". The worst affected airports were in Atlanta, Houston, New York, and Philadelphia airports.
