Southwest suburban voters back statewide property tax rebates; term limit extension leads in Dolton

A majority of south and southwest suburban voters have supported referendums seeking property tax relief and a federal tax credit scholarship program. With 94% of the estimated vote tallied in Orland Township, 89% of voters supported the state government providing annual property tax rebates, while 70% were in favor of Illinois opting into a federal scholarship program using privately-donated funds. In Palos Township, about 73% of votes were in support of the scholarship program referendum. Dolton residents also supported extending term limits for local elected officials, with about 90% agreeing on the state's funding to mitigate flooding and 92% supporting the village's use of sales tax revenue for infrastructure improvements. Former Gov. Pat Quinn supported a measure in November 2024 asking if the Illinois Constitution should be amended to create a 3% tax on those making over $1 million dedicated to property tax Relief.
