California-based Terabase Energy has developed a 24/7 solar farm-building robot, Terafab V2, which aims to build massive solar farms faster and more efficiently. The robot combines robotics, real-time decision-making, and autonomous operation to build solar farms quickly and efficiently. A single line can install solar equipment on a two-minute cycle, which adds up to over 20 megawatts installed per week. The system also incorporates built-in quality checks to prevent defects from occurring later in the field. Terabase plans to scale its factory capacity in Northern California to support up to 10 GW of installations annually. The company has already used its Terafafab system on five solar projects and claims developers reported higher productivity, better build quality, and improved safety.
