Orland Park Mayor Jim Dodge highlighted upcoming retail developments and increased police staffing during his first year in office at the annual state of the village address. His administration cut about $10 million in expenses through changes to the employee health insurance plan, redesigning a roundabout and adjusting the downtown Orland Park tax increment financing agreement. The money was mostly spent on new hires, with the village gaining 25 full-time employees and 40 part-time workers. Additionally, Dodge increased enforcement of aggravated speeding and loud car accidents. The village has issued 47 citations for loud mufflers so far this year compared to seven at the same point last year. Other priorities for this year include increasing community engagement and developing strategic plans for village parks and recreation facilities.
