Sarah Jane Withyman, a 43-year-old woman from Newcastle, England, found a small sore on her breast in 2021, but was unaware it was an aggressive form of breast cancer. Her doctor diagnosed her with shingles and recommended a mammogram and ultrasound. She received devastating news shortly after her scans, revealing a stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer subtype of the disease. She underwent a lumpectomy in 2021 to remove the tumor and several lymph nodes, followed by four rounds of chemotherapy. Despite being out of immediate physical danger, the emotional and mental impact of her diagnosis has not dissipated.
