Dawn Turner, from Worcestershire, England, was diagnosed with "broken heart syndrome" after her son, Rob, died by suicide in 2025. The symptoms began to occur months after Rob's death. Dawn, who had been in the British Army for 10 years, experienced severe physical symptoms including a lack of sleep, a heart palpitations, and a pain down her arm and jaw. She was rushed to a local hospital, where tests showed no signs of a heart attack but alerted the hospital cardiologist. The syndrome, Takotsubo syndrome, is temporary and often brought on by stressful situations and extreme emotions, like the loss of a loved one. Following her diagnosis, Dawn is following doctor's orders to rest, seek counseling and reduce stress in her life.
