UK microdrama producer, Onset Octopus, has claimed to be the first British producer to independently finance and produce a vertical video series for international distribution. The studio's latest production, Cowboy Before Dark, follows a love story between two friends who reunite. The show is produced by Ben Pengilly, with his studio financing from development through to post, and Dan Lowenstein is the director. The business model will allow for a director to receive a percentage of sale, akin to indie filmmaking. The company is also working with Tattle TV on a series for the latter's app.
