Police in Maryland have released body camera footage showing the fatal shooting of Alexander LaMorie, a man with autism spectrum disorder, who was fatally shot by officers after he approached them with a knife. The incident occurred at Patuxent Commons, an apartment complex that provides housing for people with autism and disabilities, seniors and vulnerable persons. The Howard County Police Department had responded to a man threatening to harm himself on March 1 at the complex on the night of the shooting. Body camera footage shows officers confronting LaMore in the parking lot and shouting for him to drop the knife, but he was shot by three officers. The victim's mother, Jill Harrington, described him as "bright, articulate (and) deeply self-aware," initially reported him to police due to a cyber scam. The video was released March 30.
