AI use on the job rising, but fast adoption faces speed bumps

A Gallup report has found that around four in 10 workers say they use artificial intelligence on the job, while smaller shares report being frequent users. The report also found that 41% of private-sector employees use AI at least occasionally, and 25% use it frequently. However, Mark Muro, a Brookings Metro senior fellow, said that the pace of AI adoption in the workplace may be disappointing due to the high profile of big claims. He also warned of potential speed limits on the adoption of AI due to its potential to achieve significant process gains in organizations. Both private- and public-sector users have seen steady increases in on-the-job AI use. The next evolution of workplace AI will see the tools increasingly integrated into organizational workflows and interfaces, Dahbura said.
