Texas attorney general: ‘Illegal’ for mental health providers to ‘transition’ kids in state

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has issued a legal opinion stating that it is illegal for mental health providers to "transition" children under state law. This follows a 2023 ban on gender-affirming care for adolescents and the use of puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgeries for adolescents. The law also applies to "indoctrination by activists" to confuse children's gender. If found to be violating the law, health care providers could lose their licenses.
