The Board of Commissioners in Lower Merwyn, Pennsylvania, may consider increasing their salaries to $6,000 per year, their first increase in half a century. The proposed changes would come after elections for each of the 14 commissioner seats in 2027 and follow the same period as half of the remaining seats. The cost-of-living raises would be calculated through the Consumer Price Index. The proposal is on the agenda of the Governance & Administration Committee meeting on Wednesday. The compensation for the commissioners, which was set at $4,000 in the mid-1970s, is in part reimbursement for their costs incurred while serving as commissioner.
