People Want Jobs, Not UBI

A global survey conducted by the Windfall Trust and the Collective Intelligence Project suggests widespread doubts about Universal Basic Income (UBI). The survey, which polled over 1,000 people from 60 countries, found that 52% of respondents would prefer to live in a world where jobs were guaranteed, but only 39% would prefer guaranteed income. The survey also found that 40% believed their job was likely to be automated within 10 years, while only 21% thought their job should be automated in 10 years. The chipmaker Nvidia has a profit margin of 55.8%, according to its financials, meaning that for every dollar of revenue it brings in, $0.55 is pure profit. However, Fractile's CEO, Walter Goodwin, argues that Nvidia’s proprietary software is often described as its moat, but can also be disrupted by startups. The company disputes these claims, arguing that its chips are compatible with older generations and that it should be more flexible and faster.
