Meta must face antitrust suit from shuttered app Phhhoto, US judge rules

A US judge has ruled that Meta Platforms must face an antitrust lawsuit from shuttered app Phhhoto, which alleges that the company maintained an illegal monopoly in the market for personal social networking services in violation of federal antitrust law. The startup will be allowed to pursue claims that Meta built a competing app using confidential information obtained during partnership talks. It may also proceed with allegations that Meta used its newsfeed algorithm to suppress Phhhot content on Facebook and Instagram. However, the lawsuit has been reduced to several claims, including that several of them were previously removed from the lawsuit.
