Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe out for season with thumb injury

The New York City Nets have announced that center Day'Ron Sharpe will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a ligament tear in his left thumb. Sharpe, who played 62 games for the team this season, averaged career highs of 8.7 PPG and 6.7 rebounds this year. He also led the team's bench players in points, assists, and minutes played.
