NASA has rolled out the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, which will launch the Artemis III mission in 2027. The stage departed from the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans for shipment to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, marking significant progress on the path to the agency's first crewed lunar landing mission to the Moon in two years. The core stage will consist of the top four fifths of the rocket, including the engine section, and two propellant tanks that hold over 733,000 gallons of super-chilled liquid propellant to fuel four RS-25 engines. Boeing and L3Harris Technologies are the primary contractors for the core stages' design and assembly, and L2hththt is for the rocket's components.
