Western nations have increased their military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Iran-Iran conflict. The biggest U.S. aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest ship from the world, docked at the Greek island of Crete two weeks ago before sailing further east with escort ships carrying missiles. Britain has also dispatched Wildcat helicopters equipped with counter-drone technology and stationed additional F-35B jets at its base in Cyprus. Greece has also sent its new Belharra frigate, Kimon, and MEKO 200 frigate Psara, and F-16 Viper fighter jets to be stationed in western Cyprus. France has deployed its flagship aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the East Mediterranean, deploying a dozen naval vessels around it. Spain also deployed its most advanced warship, the Álvaro de Bazán-class frigate Cristobal Colon, and Italy's Martinengo frigate. The Netherlands is preparing to send the air defence frigate HNLMS Evertsen to the region.
