Xthings is set to release two new long-range wireless security camera kits, priced between $489.99 and $989.99, using the Wi-Fi HaLow protocol to transmit video at distances up to 1,000 meters (over 0.6 miles). The Ulticam Long-Range Wireless AI Security Kit pairs four of the company's B25W outdoor cameras with a HaLow Wi-AF Gateway, and the smaller kit includes eight weatherproof 4MP outdoor cameras. The smaller kit also includes a network video recorder (NVR) that records video locally and provides seven days of rolling cloud storage for redundancy. The technology has been slow to catch on, with companies like Abode announcing HaLow-compatible security devices over two years after its debut at CES 2024.
