Auroras may be visible in 16 US states tonight as several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are forecast to impact Earth within days. The G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for March 19 (UTC), when the main bulk of the first CME is expected to arrive. This could trigger moderate geomagnication conditions and extend the farther south than usual. However, if conditions don't align, there may be no aurora shows. The best time to look for the northern lights is the early hours of the morning (EDT), when geommag storm conditions are expected to occur.
