The City of Lincoln is encouraging the community of Lincoln to support downtown businesses during Project O Street, a major investment in Lincoln's downtown. The work, which began in early April, involves street improvements, upgrade stormwater and water mains, install sidewalks, new lighting, brick pavers, tree grates, and more. The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Director, Liz Elliott, stated that full closures will be used to expedite construction and that full access to all business will be maintained. Additional efforts include free 1-hour parking vouchers for customers using city parking garages and promotional advertising for businesses. The city will also hold a Project NO Street Block Party on April 30 featuring local bands AM/FM and the Church of the Blues.
