Hilo play embodies living history of deadly 1975 Halape tsunami

A new production by the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hawaii, has been created to represent the 50th anniversary of the Halape tsunami that devastated Halape, a powerful earthquake and tsunami that changed both lives and landscape. The production, "Halape '75: A Crevice in Time," is a live re-enactment of the disaster. The script was written by Jackie Pualani Johnson and was assisted by the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo. The cast includes respected actors with personal ties to the tragedy. The goal of the play is to teach new generations about the tragedy and its potential to make a difference in saving lives.
