Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has warned that the county's budget deficit could impact fees and services. The Houston City Council is currently working on a budget, which includes a $5 monthly trash fee. Budget Director Daniel Ramos revealed that expenses could exceed $3 billion for the first time. The worst-case scenario is $257 million, while the best-case is $130 million. To close the gap, Hididgo suggests increasing fees, cutting services, and increasing taxes as high as possible. However, Commissioner Tom Ramsey believes there is time to address the issue without raising fees or increasing taxes.
