The move comes as President Trump takes credit for reshaping the American media landscape via intimidation, regulatory leverage, and policy pressure. CNN CEO Mark Thompson stood by his journalism, while Carr doubled down on the threat, stating licenses are not a "property right". The FCC does not license national networks but licenses local stations that carry their programming. Public interest communications attorney Andrew Jay Schwartzman said license revocation carries a legal burden and is not a feasible mechanism.
