A 3-year-old boy was nearly kidnapped by a woman who slashed his face with a stolen knife in a Walmart in Omaha, Neb., on April 14. The suspect, Noemi Guzman, 31, was identified as Guzman who shoplifted the knife from the store and directed the child and his guardian to the parking lot. Two Omaha police officers responded to an emergency call reporting a woman with a large kitchen knife and a young boy. They fired their service weapons and Guzman was struck, but she died at the scene. The boy was transported to the Children's Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. The two involved officers have been placed on paid critical incident leave.
