Rep. Eric Swalwell, a Democrat from California, is facing a new sexual assault allegation from a woman who alleges he drugged, raped and choked her in a California hotel room in 2018. The woman, Lonna Drewes, stated that she lost consciousness during the assault and did not immediately file a police report at the time. She said that the assault had a profound impact on her mental health and led to a decrease in desire to live. The allegations come a day after Swalwe announced his plans to resign from Congress amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations.
