Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested 13 Japanese men for their alleged involvement in a cryptocurrency fraud ring operating out of Indonesia. The suspects, whose ages range from 20 to 50, were taken into custody after their transfer flight from Jakarta landed at Haneda Airport. The ring targeted a woman in her 60s from Nara Prefecture and duped her out of roughly 8 million yen worth of cryptocurrency between February and March. The group's overseas operations ended when Indonesian immigration authorities raided three houses in a residential neighborhood in Bogor, West Java, and confiscated smartphones and counterfeit police badges used to deceive their victims. This arrest marks the first time Japanese authorities have cracked down on a domestic scam syndicate based in Indonesia.
